Method

  • Peel and slice sweet potatoes.
  • Cook potatoes in water for 5 to 10 minutes and add 1 teaspoon of vanilla.
  • Save water to add later. Make dough like you would biscuits.
  • Roll out thin strips and cover the bottom and sides with strips.
  • Use deep pan.
  • Lay sweet potatoes in bottom of pan, then put margarine on potatoes. Sprinkle sugar over margarine.
  • Repeat potatoes, magarine and sugar until you use all the potatoes, then pour the water which you used to cook the potatoes in and cover the potatoes completely.
  • Next, cut more dough strips and cover the top.
  • Then brush or cut small pieces on top of the dough.
  • Sprinkle sugar on top.
