- 1 lb. pinto beans
- 8 c. water
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. salad oil
- 3 c. onions, chopped
- 2 lb. ground beef
- 2 cans (28 oz. each) tomatoes (undrained)
- 1 (4 oz.) can chopped chilies
- 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
- 3 Tbsp. chili powder
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 2 tsp. ground cumin
- 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
Method
- Cover beans with water and soak overnight. Add 1 teaspoon salt and simmer 1 hour or until beans are almost tender.
- Drain and set aside.
