Ingredients
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 stick butter
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 2 c. sugar
- 5 egg yolks
- 5 egg whites
- 2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 small can coconut
- 1 c. pecans
Method
- Cream butter, shortening and sugar.
- Add egg yolks.
- Combine flour and soda.
- Alternate with buttermilk.
- Beat egg whites until stiff.
- Fold in egg whites, coconut, nuts and vanilla.
- Bake in 3 greased and floured cake pans at 350° for 25 minutes.
