Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground sirloin
  • 1 (10 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme
  • 2 tablespoons fresh sage
  • 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chervil
  • 2 cups frozen mixed vegetables
  • 2 cups beef gravy
  • 1/2 lb potato, peeled and cubed
  • 1/2 lb rutabaga, peeled and cubed
  • 1 (14 1/2 ounce) can beef stock
  • 1 cup cream
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 1 garlic clove, minced

Method

  • Brown ground sirloin and drain add onions and garlic and cook five minutes.
  • Mix together herbs, tomato sauce and gravy and pour over beef and mixed vegetables in a casserole dish.
  • in beef stock and water boil potatoes and rutagabagas together cook about 30 minutes until tender Mash with cream and butter.
  • Mix in cheese and spread over meat mixture.
  • bake on 350 for 35 minutes.
