Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground meat
  • 1/2 lb. ground hot dogs
  • 1 1/4 c. cracker crumbs or bread crumbs
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 or 2 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt or substitute hickory smoke salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1/4 to 1/2 c. tomato juice

Method

  • Mix brown sugar, mustard and vinegar; set aside 1/2 of this for last.
  • Mix the remaining ingredients with meat mixture and shape into loaf.
  • Bake at 350° for 1 hour.
  • Baste with sugar mixture or pour over top before baking.
  • Cut slit in loaf to pour mixture or to baste.
