Ingredients
- 2 c. milk
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. mashed potatoes
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 5 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. soda
Method
- Place milk, sugar, potatoes, butter and salt in a large saucepan.
- Heat slowly to boiling point.
- Let stand until lukewarm. Add yeast, dissolved in a little of this lukewarm mixture, then add to first mixture.
- Mix soda and baking powder with flour.
- Stir in to make a stiff dough.
- Let rise 15 minutes.
- Knead to a stiff dough, adding more flour, if necessary.
