Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 c. cornmeal
  • 1/3 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1/2 c. finely minced onion
  • 1 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 3/4 tsp. soda

Method

  • In a medium bowl measure cornmeal, salt, garlic salt and onion.
  • In a large measuring cup measure buttermilk and add soda. Stir and let set for a couple of minutes.
  • Then stir into cornmeal.
  • Heat oil to 375°.
  • Drop by tablespoons into hot oil. Fry only a few at a time, turning once.
  • Cook 3 to 5 minutes until golden brown.
  • Drain on paper towels.
