Ingredients
- 3/4 c. light brown sugar
- 1/3 c. hot water
- 1 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 5 c. milk
- pinch of salt
- 1 3/4 tsp. vanilla
- garnish: ground nutmeg and whipped cream
Method
- Melt brown sugar in a 2-quart pan over medium low heat while stirring.
- Add hot water and bring the mixture to the boiling point.
- Add butter and cook 1 to 2 minutes.
- Add milk and heat. Blend in salt and vanilla extract.
- Garnish with cream ground nutmeg.
- This is an alternative to hot cocoa and tastes good in the winter!
