Ingredients
- 1 c. shortening
- 3 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 8 c. flour
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 2 c. milk
- 3 pkgs. yeast
- 6 eggs, beaten
Method
- Heat and melt shortening.
- Add sugar, salt and milk.
- Cool. Add yeast that has been dissolved in 1/2 c. warm water to cooled mixture.
- Add flour, and beaten eggs alternately, beating well after each addition.
- Place dough in greased bowl to rise until doubled.
- Cover with cloth.
- When rising is complete, punch down and put dough in 4 greased loaf pans.
- Let rise, then bake at 350° until brown.
- Takes about 35-40 minutes.
- Butter crust when done.
