Ingredients

  • 1 bag navy beans
  • 1 bag Northern beans
  • 1 tsp. mustard
  • 2 onions
  • 2 Tbsp. + brown sugar (heaping)
  • 1 lb. bacon
  • 1 (24 oz.) bottle catsup

Method

  • Soak beans overnight. Change water several times, if possible. Cook beans on stove 1 hour. Drain beans. Divide all ingredients between 2 two-quart baking bowls. Add additional brown sugar if you like sweeter beans. Add catsup and water to cover beans. Bake beans, uncovered, 4 to 6 hours at 350°. Check each hour to add water and stir beans if necessary (don't allow beans to dry out).
