Ingredients

  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 4 Tablespoons Fine Grain Sugar
  • 2 cups Milk, Divided
  • 4 cups Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Soda
  • 3 teaspoons Cream Of Tartar
  • 2 Tablespoons Melted Butter

Method

  • Preheat oven to 400°F.
  • In small bowl, whisk together eggs, sugar and half of the milk.
  • Pour into a large bowl and, with a wooden spoon, stir in flour. Mix well. Add in remaining milk. Stir in baking soda, cream of tartar and lastly, melted butter.
  • Mix until all ingredients are just incorporated. Do not beat until smooth.
  • Dollop evenly onto parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown. Serve with tea, warm butter and jam.
