Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (browned)
  • 1 pound Italian sausage (browned)
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 tsp. anise seed
  • 1 can whole tomatoes
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • salt, pepper and garlic to taste
  • Pepper Jack cheese

Method

  • Add all ingredients except cheese and simmer one hour.
  • Cut the tops off 2 loaves of French bread.
  • Hollow out the loaves.
  • Spoon in meat mixture.
  • Top with slices of pepper jack cheese.
  • Replace top of bread and wrap in foil.
  • Place on cookie sheet and bake 10-15 minutes in a 350 degree oven..
  • Remove from oven and slice. Makes 4 servings.
