Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef (browned)
- 1 pound Italian sausage (browned)
- 1 medium onion
- 1 tsp. anise seed
- 1 can whole tomatoes
- 1 green pepper, chopped
- salt, pepper and garlic to taste
- Pepper Jack cheese
Method
- Add all ingredients except cheese and simmer one hour.
- Cut the tops off 2 loaves of French bread.
- Hollow out the loaves.
- Spoon in meat mixture.
- Top with slices of pepper jack cheese.
- Replace top of bread and wrap in foil.
- Place on cookie sheet and bake 10-15 minutes in a 350 degree oven..
- Remove from oven and slice. Makes 4 servings.
