Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter or oleo
  • 6 egg yolks, beaten
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • 2/3 c. canned evaporated milk
  • 2 c. chopped nuts
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 Tbsp. flour
  • 46 graham crackers, ground or 4 c. ground graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 1/3 c. water
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 6 egg whites, beaten stiff

Method

  • Cream butter and sugar; stir in egg yolks.
  • Mix baking powder and flour; add to graham crackers.
  • Add flour mixture to butter mixture, a little at a time, with milk and water.
  • Add nuts and vanilla.
  • Fold in egg whites.
  • Bake in a 375° oven for 30 to 35 minutes in greased and floured 9-inch pans.
