Ingredients

  • 4 c. flour
  • 2 tbsp. baking pwdr
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 2 c. buttermilk

Method

  • Mix dry ingredients.
  • Cut in shortening, then add in buttermilk and mix well.
  • Turn out onto floured surface.
  • Knead ONLY till you are able to handle the dough sufficient to roll or possibly pat out.
  • Cut biscuits with floured cutter and place on greased cookie sheet.
  • Bake at 450 degrees till brown.
  • The more you handle the dough, the tougher the biscuit.
  • This recipe can be halved for a smaller family.
