Ingredients
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. corn syrup
- 1/2 c. water
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 4 to 6 c. assorted nuts
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. butter rum flavoring
Method
- Combine sugar, corn syrup, water and salt in pan.
- Cover and cook on medium heat without stirring until it comes to a boil. Uncover and boil until 300° (hard crack stage).
- Meanwhile, spread nuts in shallow pan and put in oven heated to 350° for 10 minutes. Reduce heat under candy mix to very low and add heated nuts, butter and flavorings.
- Stir just until nuts are coated and butter is melted.
- Turn into large sieve or colander and let set one minute to drain off extra syrup.
- Spread onto 2 buttered cookie sheets and separate quickly with 2 forks.
- When cool, pack in containers.
