Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. corn syrup
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 4 to 6 c. assorted nuts
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. butter rum flavoring

Method

  • Combine sugar, corn syrup, water and salt in pan.
  • Cover and cook on medium heat without stirring until it comes to a boil. Uncover and boil until 300° (hard crack stage).
  • Meanwhile, spread nuts in shallow pan and put in oven heated to 350° for 10 minutes. Reduce heat under candy mix to very low and add heated nuts, butter and flavorings.
  • Stir just until nuts are coated and butter is melted.
  • Turn into large sieve or colander and let set one minute to drain off extra syrup.
  • Spread onto 2 buttered cookie sheets and separate quickly with 2 forks.
  • When cool, pack in containers.
