Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. German chocolate (sweet, 4 oz.)
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1 can evaporated milk (14 1/2 oz.,)
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 unbaked 9-inch deep-dish pie shell
  • 1 1/3 c. flaked coconut
  • 1/2 c. chopped pecans

Method

  • In a small saucepan, melt chocolate and butter over low heat, stirring until blended.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Stir in milk; set aside.
  • In large bowl of electric mixer, combine sugar, cornstarch and salt.
  • Beat in eggs, one at a time; add vanilla and mix thoroughly.
  • Gradually blend in chocolate mixture; pour into unbaked pie shell.
