Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/3 c. warm water
  • 1/4 c. vegetable oil
  • 1/3 c. granulated sugar
  • 1/3 c. packed light brown sugar
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. flour
  • 1/3 c. chopped walnuts

Method

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Lightly grease an 8 x 8-inch baking pan.
  • In large bowl, stir together the cocoa and water; let stand for 5 minutes.
  • Stir in oil, granulated sugar, brown sugar, egg whites and vanilla.
  • Add the baking powder, salt and flour and stir for 2 minutes.
  • Fold in nuts, then pour the mixture into the pan.
  • Bake for 20 minutes or until set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Cool.
  • Cut into 2-inch squares. Makes 16 brownies.
