Ingredients

  • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
  • 1 Tbsp. milk
  • 2 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1/2 c. dates, chopped
  • 1 c. apple, finely chopped

Method

  • Soften cream cheese; add milk and lemon juice.
  • Beat until smooth.
  • Stir in fruit and spread on breads.
  • For teas or special occasions, alternate layers of wheat and white bread until there are three pieces of bread with filling between.
  • Chill in refrigerator for about 30 minutes, then cut with decorative cutters.
  • To keep sandwiches fresh, cover with slightly damp white paper towel, then with plastic wrap.
