Ingredients
- 2 c. flour
- 2 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. margarine
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 c. water
- 1/2 c. cocoa
- buttermilk
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 tsp. soda
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 lb. confectioners sugar
Method
- Mix flour, sugar and salt in a bowl.
- Combine 1/2 cup margarine, shortening, water and 1/4 cup cocoa in saucepan. Bring to a boil.
- Pour into flour mixture.
- Add 1/2 cup of buttermilk, eggs, soda and 1 teaspoon of vanilla; mix well. Spread batter in greased 16 x 11 x 1-inch pan.
- Bake at 400° for 20 minutes.
- Combine remaining margarine and cocoa in saucepan. Add 1/3 cup buttermilk.
- Bring to a boil.
- Blend in confectioners sugar and remaining vanilla.
- Pour over warm brownies.
