Ingredients
- 8 oz. butter or shortening
- 4 oz. cornstarch or flour
- 2 qts. milk and stock
- salt
- pepper
Method
- Melt butter in heavy saucepan.
- Add flour.
- Stir together making a thick paste.
- Cook until smooth.
- Add milk and stock, stirring constantly until desired thickness is reached.
- Bring to a boil.
- Salt and pepper to taste.
