Ingredients

  • Pie crust
  • 3 squares of unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 stick butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 T. Karo syrup
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Method

  • Bake the pie shell for 5 minutes. Melt the chocolate and butter in a pan over hot water. Let cool slightly. In bowl, lightly beat 4 eggs. Add Karo syrup, sugar, salt and vanilla.
  • Add the chocoalte mixture to the egg mixture and mix well. Pour into the pie crust. Bake 25-30 minutes at 350. It should have a bit of crust on the top and appear to be just a little soft in the middle. Cool on a rack; the pie will settle as it cools. Best served a little warm with ice cream on top!
