Ingredients

  • 3 c. flour
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1/4 c. water
  • cornmeal

Method

  • Stir flour, sugar, yeast and baking soda together.
  • Heat 2 cups of milk and 1/4 cup water.
  • Add to dry mixture; beat well. Stir in enough flour to make stiff batter (about 2 1/4 cups).
  • May substitute wheat flour here, if preferred.
  • Spoon into 2 greased pans dusted with cornmeal.
  • Let rise for 45 minutes.
  • Bake at 400° for 25 minutes, until well brown.
