Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. salad oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 to 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 1/2 lb. ground chuck
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 c. water
  • 2 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 6 corn tortillas
  • 1 c. sharp Cheddar cheese, grated

Method

  • Heat oil.
  • Add onion and garlic.
  • Saute until golden brown. Add meat and brown.
  • Sprinkle flour over meat and onion.
  • Add tomato sauce, water, vinegar, chili powder, salt and pepper. Simmer 20 minutes.
  • Line greased casserole with some sauce.
  • Add tortilla and top with grated cheese and sauce.
  • Repeat another layer.
  • Sprinkle cheese on top.
  • Bake at 350° for 45 minutes.
