Ingredients
- 1/2 c. cold water
- 1 Tbsp. gelatin
- 4 egg yolks
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. hot water
- 4 egg whites, beaten
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- rum (if desired)
Method
- Sprinkle gelatin over cold water and set aside.
- Beat egg yolks.
- Add sugar, salt and hot water.
- Cook and stir in double boiler until thickened.
- Pour over gelatin and mix well.
- Combine beaten egg whites, sugar and nutmeg.
- Fold egg yolk mixture into egg white mixture.
- Add rum, if desired.
- Pour into 9-inch baked crust.
- Chill.
- Serve with whipped cream on top.
- Sprinkle with nutmeg.
- (For best results, do not double the recipe.)
