Ingredients

  • 1 pkg yeast
  • 2 1/2 c. warm water
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 5 1/2 c. plain flour
  • 1 egg, beaten

Method

  • Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water.
  • Cream shortening, and sugar together.
  • Add beaten egg, 2 cups warm water, salt and yeast. Add flour.
  • Put dough in greased bowl and grease on top of dough. Cover and put in refrigerator.
  • When ready to use, take out as needed.
  • Let rise 3 hours.
  • Bake at 400° for 12 to 15 minutes.
