Ingredients

  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2/3 c. white syrup
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/2 c. nuts (pecans or walnuts)

Method

  • Cook sugar, syrup and water until it forms a soft, but firm ball.
  • Pour 1/2 of mixture over stiffly beaten egg whites.
  • Return balance of syrup to fire and continue cooking until it forms a very hard ball.
  • Pour into egg white mixture and continue beating. Add vanilla and nuts.
  • Beat until very stiff.
  • Pour in lightly buttered platter.
  • Cool and cut into squares.
