Ingredients
- 3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour, sifted
- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 1 1/4 c. milk
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 egg
Method
- Heat
- milk
- to warm temperature.
- Dissolve yeast.
- Let set a few minutes.
- Add sugar and salt while warm.
- Gradually add 2 cups flour and egg.
- Beat at slow speed for 1/2 minute. Beat 3 minutes at high speed.
- Stir in as much of the remaining flour as you can mix with a spoon.
- Knead in enough of the remaining flour to make a moderately stiff dough.
- Knead until smooth, 6 to
- 8 minutes. Shape into ball.
- Place in a greased bowl. Turn
- once.
- Cover. Let
- rise
- until
- double, 45 to 60 minutes.
