Ingredients
- early cukes spears (wash stuff in jars)
- 1 hot pepper (optional)
- 1 clove garlic
- 1/4 tsp. alum
- 1 head fresh dill (in bottom)
- 6 c. vinegar
- 3 qt. water
- 1/3 c. coarse pickling salt
Method
- Put dill in bottom, then spears.
- Make brine of vinegar, water and salt.
- Boil with dill.
- Top with lid; pack.
- Let stand for 6 weeks.
- Shake every little while.
