Ingredients

  • 2 c. Sugar
  • 2 c. Raisins
  • 3/4 c. Shortening
  • 2 1/2 c. Water
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • 2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 c. Heavy cream
  • 5 c. Flour
  • 2 tsp Baking pwdr
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • 2 c. Minced nuts

Method

  • Combine in large saucepan, sugar, raisins, shortening, water, 1 tsp.
  • baking soda and cinnamon; boil 20 min.
  • Cold.
  • Add in heavy cream, flour, baking pwdr, 1 tsp.
  • soda and minced nuts; blend thoroughly.
  • Pour into greased and floured 9x13-inch baking pan and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or possibly till cake tests done.
  • Cold and top with white butter frosting, or possibly as desired.
