Ingredients

  • 1 c. softened butter or margarine
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. sour cream
  • 4 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg

Method

  • Cream butter and sugar.
  • Add the eggs, vanilla and sour cream. Blend well.
  • Sift together the flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda and nutmeg.
  • Add slowly to the creamed mixture.
  • Mix well. Divide into 4 to 5 balls and chill overnight or 3 to 4 hours. Roll on a floured surface.
  • Cut into desired shapes and sprinkle with colored sugar crystals, if desired.
  • Bake at 325° for 8 to 10 minutes.
