Ingredients
- 5 lb. sliced cucumbers
- 1 (.4 oz.) bottle Lily Lime (calcium hydroxide; get at the drugstore)
- 3 lb. sugar
- 1 qt. vinegar
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1/2 c. mixed spices or pickle seasoning
- 1 gal. cold water
Method
- Add cucumbers to water with lime mixed in.
- Soak for 24 hours. Rinse.
- Soak for 3 hours in clear water; drain.
- Mix sugar, vinegar, salt and spices and add cucumbers.
- Leave overnight. Drain out syrup and heat syrup to a boil, then add cucumbers and cook for 45 minutes.
- Put in jars and seal.
- (Add a little green food coloring to make them look pretty.)
