Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil leaves
  • 1 12 teaspoons sugar
  • 12 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 12 teaspoon salt
  • 14 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Method

  • In a saucepan, saute onion and garlic in olive oil over medium heat till soft.
  • Add tomatoes, basil, sugar, oregano, salt and pepper.
  • Either cook on low on the stove for approximately 1 hour till it thickens or bring to a boil and boil for 5 more minutes till some of the liquid evaporates.
  • Reduce heat to low and add the butter and heavy cream and simmer for 5 more minutes.
  • Serve with Penne Pasta!
