Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter, softened
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
  • 2 1/2 c. sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 c. sifted cake flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. lemon flavoring

Method

  • Cream butter, shortening and cream cheese.
  • Gradually add sugar, beating at medium speed of an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Combine flour, baking powder and salt.
  • Add creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, stirring just until blended.
  • Stir in flavorings.
