Ingredients

  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 c. cocoa (for chocolate cake)
  • 3/4 c. oil
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 3 c. flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 6 Tbsp. Hershey's dark chocolate (powder)
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 12 Tbsp. cooking oil
  • 2 Tbsp. cider vinegar
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. ice water

Method

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Grease pan(s).
  • Do not flour.
  • Sift dry ingredients.
  • Make 3 holes in dry mixture.
  • In first hole, pour oil; in second hole, pour vinegar; in third hole, pour vanilla. Pour ice water over all.
  • Stir with fork until evenly blended. Bake 35 to 40 minutes at 350° layer or sheet cake only.
  • Will not do well in Bundt pan.
