Ingredients

  • 1 c. Crisco (butter flavor is good)
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. light brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. quick-cooking oatmeal or Rice Krispies
  • 1 pkg. (12 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate bits
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 c. chopped pecans
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder

Method

  • Cream sugars and Crisco.
  • Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.
  • Add vanilla.
  • Sift together flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder.
  • Blend into butter mixture.
  • Add oatmeal or Rice Krispies and stir well.
  • Add chocolate bits and nuts. Stir to distribute evenly.
  • Drop by teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet.
  • Bake at 350° for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
