Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. vegetable oil
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 c. milk
  • 3 c. plain flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. coconut flavoring
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp. butter flavoring
  • 1 can Angel Flake coconut
  • yellow cake flavoring (optional)

Method

  • Cream sugar and vegetable oil well.
  • Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.
  • Add alternately milk and flour.
  • Begin and end with the flour.
  • Add salt, butter flavorings and coconut flavorings with a spoon.
  • Add coconut to batter along with a few drops of yellow food coloring.
  • Bake in a tube pan.
  • Start cake in a cold oven.
  • Set temperature at 325° for 1 hour and 10 minutes or until brown and tests done.
