Ingredients

  • 3 cups elbow macaroni, uncooked
  • 3 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped King Sooper's 1 lb For $0.99 thru 02/09
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 Tbsp. dry mustard
  • 3 cups milk
  • 3 cups Cracker Barrel Shredded Old Cheddar Cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup fresh bread crumbs

Method

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Cook macaroni as directed on package, omitting salt.
  • Meanwhile, heat oil in large saucepan on medium-high heat.
  • Add onions and garlic; cook and stir 5 min.
  • or until crisp-tender.
  • Stir in flour and mustard; cook and stir 1 min.
  • Gradually whisk in milk, cooking and stirring after each addition until slightly thickened.
  • Simmer on low heat 5 to 7 min.
  • or until thickened, stirring constantly.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Add 2-2/3 cups cheese; stir until melted.
  • Add macaroni to cheese sauce; mix lightly.
  • Pour into 13x9-inch baking dish sprayed with cooking spray.
  • Combine remaining cheese and bread crumbs; sprinkle over macaroni mixture.
  • Bake 20 min.
