Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. olive oil
  • 1 large chopped onion
  • handful chopped parsley
  • 4 to 5 cloves minced garlic
  • 2/3 c. chopped red bell pepper
  • 2/3 c. chopped green bell pepper
  • 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 c. robust red wine
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp. thyme
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 1 tsp. marjoram
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. pepper
  • 3/4 tsp. cayenne powder
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp. basil
  • chili powder to taste
  • 1 large can cut up tomatoes
  • 1 lb. prawns, cleaned
  • 1 to 2 lb. white fish, cut into chunks
  • crab legs or crab meat or fresh oysters or shrimp (as much as desired)

Method

  • Saute in olive oil the onion, parsley, garlic, red and green bell pepper.
  • Add tomato sauce, wine, bay leaf, thyme, oregano, marjoram, salt and pepper, cayenne pepper, basil, chili powder and tomatoes.
  • Stir well.
  • Cook for 40 minutes.
  • Add prawns and white fish and cook for 15 minutes.
  • Add crab legs, etc.
  • Cook 7 to 8 minutes longer.
