Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 c. warm water
  • 2 Tbsp. yeast
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. margarine, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 c. unbleached flour
  • 3 c. whole wheat flour

Method

  • Mix ingredients well, except the wheat flour.
  • Add whole wheat flour.
  • Knead by hand or dough hooks until dough handles easily. Let rise until double.
  • Divide into 4 parts.
  • Roll each section out.
  • Spread with margarine, sprinkle with brown sugar, raisins, cinnamon and nuts.
  • Roll into log shape, slice approximately 1 1/2 inches.
  • Place in baking pan.
  • Let rise until double.
  • Bake 25 minutes at 375°.
  • Frost when cooled (powdered sugar and lemon juice).
