Ingredients

  • 4 to 4 1/2 c. bread flour
  • 1 1/4 c. water
  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt

Method

  • Combine all ingredients.
  • Knead until smooth, dry and pliable. Cover and let rise until double in size.
  • Roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness.
  • Brush entire surface with egg wash.
  • Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar, raisins and nuts.
  • Roll dough up like a jelly roll and cut into 1/2-inch pieces.
  • Place in pan and let rise.
  • Bake at 375° until brown.
