Ingredients

  • 3 c. lukewarm water (may save some water from cooking potatoes)
  • 4 pkg. yeast
  • 1 c. honey
  • 6 eggs, beaten
  • 1 1/2 c. melted margarine or butter
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 c. instant nonfat dry milk (undiluted)
  • 12 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice or lemon rind
  • 1/2 c. raisins
  • 1/2 c. dates
  • 1 lb. glazed fruit
  • 1 c. chopped walnuts

Method

  • Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.
  • Add 1/2 cup honey.
  • Sift together flour, nutmeg and cinnamon.
  • Add 4 cups of dry ingredients to yeast mixture.
  • May mix with electric hand mixer on slow to medium speed.
  • Cover and let rise about 1/2 hour to light spongy consistency.
