Ingredients
- 2 c. granulated sugar
- 2 c. flour
- 1 cube margarine
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 4 Tbsp. cocoa
- 1 c. water
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. soda
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 tsp. salt
Method
- Sift together in a large bowl and set aside the granulated sugar and flour.
- Bring to a boil the margarine, shortening, cocoa and water.
- Pour mixture into sugar and flour.
- Mix well.
- Add buttermilk, soda, eggs and salt.
- Bake in 10 1/2 x 15-inch cookie sheet type jelly roll pan for 20 minutes at 400°.
- About 5 minutes before cake is done, bring to boil the margarine, cocoa and milk. Remove from heat and add 1 box powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla and nuts (optional).
- Pour on hot cake and spread around.
