Ingredients

  • 2 c. plain flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 3 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1/2 c. vegetable oil
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Method

  • Sift together sugar, flour and soda; set aside.
  • In saucepan, place water, margarine, oil and cocoa; bring to a boil and pour over dry ingredients.
  • Mix well and set aside.
  • Mix together buttermilk, eggs and vanilla.
  • Add to chocolate batter.
  • Pour into greased and floured 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
  • Bake at 400° for 20 minutes.
  • Start icing 5 minutes before cake is done.
