Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter or 1 cup margarine, softened
  • 1 12 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 12 cups flour
  • 12 cup cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 12 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups quick-cooking rolled oats
  • 12 cup chopped nuts

Method

  • Preheat oven to 350F.
  • In a large bowl beat together butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs and vanilla and beat until combined.
  • In a separate bowl, stir together flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; gradually add to butter mixture while stirring.
  • Do not over mix.
  • Stir in oats and nuts until combined.
  • (Batter will be thick and stiff).
  • Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake 11 to 12 minutes or until set; cookies will be slightly moist in the center.
  • Try not to overbake.
  • Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet and then transfer to wire rack to cool completely.
