Ingredients

  • 1 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2/3 c. granulated sugar
  • 6 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 2 Tbsp. melted Parkay margarine
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. chopped pecans
  • 1 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. boiling water

Method

  • Mix first 4 ingredients plus 2 tablespoons cocoa.
  • Add milk, shortening and vanilla.
  • Mix only until smooth; add pecans.
  • Pour in greased shallow pan, 9 x 9-inches.
  • Mix brown sugar and remaining 4 tablespoons cocoa.
  • Sprinkle over mixture in pan. Pour 1 1/2 cups boiling water over top.
  • Bake at 350° for 40 minutes.
