Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. soft shortening
  • 2 sq. unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c. evaporated milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 3/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt

Method

  • Mix together thoroughly the shortening, chocolate, brown sugar, granulated sugar and eggs.
  • Stir in milk and vanilla.
  • Sift together and stir in flour, soda and salt.
  • Chill dough if soft. Drop rounded tablespoonfuls about 2 inches apart on a greased baking sheet.
  • Bake just until almost no imprint remains when touched lightly with finger.
  • Bake at 375° for 10 minutes.
