Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. rolled oats (not instant)
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. butter or margarine, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 (12 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. chopped pecans

Method

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • In blender or food processor, process oats until coarse flour.
  • In small bowl, combine ground oats, flour, salt and baking soda; set aside.
  • In large mixing bowl with electric mixer on high, beat butter and brown sugar until light and creamy.
  • Beat in eggs and vanilla until well combined. Gradually stir in flour mixture until combined.
  • Stir in chocolate chips and pecans.
  • Drop dough by scant 1/4 cupfuls onto ungreased baking sheets.
  • Bake 15 to 18 minutes until golden brown.
  • Remove to wire rack; cool completely.
