Ingredients

  • 185 g butter, softened
  • ½ cup caster sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon imitation vanilla essence
  • l¾ cups self-raising flour, sifted
  • 1 cup pecans or walnuts, chopped
  • 1 cup chocolate bits

Method

1. Beat butter, sugars, egg and vanilla essence in a small bowl with an electric mixer until soft and creamy. Stir in sifted flour, nuts and chocolate bits.

2. Drop tablespoonfuls onto greased baking trays, allow room for spreading. Bake at 180°C for 10–12 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool on trays for 2–3 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack. Cool completely. Store in an airtight container.
