- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 2 medium onions, chopped
- 2 stalks celery, chopped
- 2 lb. chopped meat
- 4 Tbsp. chili powder
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 2 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. black pepper
- 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1 pinch oregano
- 1 tsp. basil
- 1 large green pepper, chopped
- 1/4 c. wine
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 (28 oz.) can crushed tomatoes
- 2 cans stewed tomatoes, chopped
- 2 cans water
- 2 cans Progresso red kidney beans
Method
- Brown meat in butter.
- Add onion, celery, peppers and spices. Saute for 10 minutes.
- Add tomatoes, wine and water and simmer for 1 hour.
- Cool down.
- (Best when made a day ahead.)
