Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter or oleo, softened
  • 1/2 c. powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 3/4 c. flour
  • 1 c. finely chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 c. granulated sugar

Method

  • In large bowl, cream butter, powdered sugar, vanilla and salt until fluffy.
  • Stir in flour and walnuts until well blended. Cover and chill 30 minutes or until firm enough to handle.
  • Break off small piece of dough and on lightly floured surface, roll into finger-thick strips.
  • Cut in 2-inch lengths.
  • Taper ends, shape in crescents.
  • Place 1-inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake in preheated 300° oven 18 to 20 minutes or until firm to the touch. While warm, roll in granulated sugar.
  • Cool on rack.
  • Store in airtight container in cool place.
